Google Chrome’s New Tab Page on the desktop can display some useful information—if you like that sort of thing. You can even see your Google Photos memories on the New Tab Page. We’ll show you how to enable it.

At the time of writing in November 2021, Google is testing the ability to see Google Photos memories on Chrome’s New Tab Page. It can be enabled with a couple of Feature Flags. The flags are available on all Chrome channels, but it seems to work best in the Beta channel (Chrome 97).

First, open the Chrome browser on your computer. Type chrome://flags in the address bar and hit enter.

Next, enter “NTP” in the search bar at the top of the screen. There are two flags you’ll need to enable: “NTP Modules” and “NTP Photos Module.”

After enabling the flags, you’ll need to restart the browser to apply the changes. You can enable both flags before relaunching. Select the blue “Relaunch” button when you’re ready.

Once the browser has relaunched, go to the New Tab Page. You’ll see a Google Photos card, tap the “See Memories” button to set it up.

If you’re already signed into your Google account, you’ll immediately see memories for today. You may need to refresh the page the first time. Make sure you’re signed in if you don’t see anything.

Click the three-dot menu icon in the top right of the card to adjust the settings.

That’s all there is to it! One thing to keep in mind is this will replace the stable “Cards” feature that is normally present on the New Tab Page. Eventually, the Google Photos feature will be part of that. Until now, this is how you can use it.
