There are two easy ways to turn off background data usage on a Galaxy S20/S20+ or S20 Ultra. The first one is by going under the app settings and the other via the mobile data interface. Learn how to do each one below:

Via App

This method is helpful when you know which app is running in the background.

 

  • Open Settings.
  • Tap Apps.
  • Select the app.
  • Tap Mobile data.
  • Check the app’s foreground and background and see if it’s okay to let the app run in the background.
  • If you don’t want it to run in the background, move the switch to the left to turn it off.

Via Mobile Data

If you have no idea which app is running in the background then go for this method.

  • Open Settings.
  • Tap Connections.
  • Tap Data usage.
  • Tap Mobile data usage.
  • You’ll see a list of apps that uses mobile data for the current month.
  • Tap on the app you want to restrict from using background data.
  • Move the switch to the left to turn it off.
